I have often been asked why do i spend so much time at the computer. I can only reply I can’t help it.’ I think my imagination needs an outlet - a creative expression of me. I am putting in many hours on the third of the trilogy ‘The Golden Spiral’ and at that point I shall have say goodbye to the crew of the Golden Eagle. It’s shaping up good and should earn a lot for Autism. It should be finished and printed by the end of June.

There is another reason why I write. My hearing is not as good as it might be and with two hearing aids I find that I can hear nothing in a crowd. This might be a cause for loneliness if it were not for the fact that I can get in touch with many friends through the blog. I look into the future here. At my age one would expect to have a quiet life. Believe me, I sometimes wonder how I can get everything into the day.

Stuart is a great  worker about the house. Between us we manage to clean and cook. The cooking is something of a task because we believe in simple, healthy foods - that means creating our own foods like muesli. The garden is another big committment. It isn’t so big as being crammed full of trees. The trees, to me are health-giving and I wouldn’t be without them. It is Stuart who has to prune them. They grow healthier than the vegetables and twice as prolific.

The spin off from trees are the birds and their distinctive song. This has been wonderful to me since I had a hearing aid. It is necessary to go without hearing aid for some years to appreciate bird song when it comes. (Then there is the music - another story.)

This brings me to my favourite bird, ‘Boofie’ who welcomes my car when I arrive home. I think it is pure altruism because he follows me when I dig. There aren’t many juicy morsels in our dry ground at present and I think he appreciates a turn over of the soil. There is much to say about this my only pet but I will continue my account next time with the wonder of his nesting.
